Carluddon Technology Park is a flagship development funded through the European Regional Development Fund, designed to stimulate high-quality employment and drive economic regeneration in the St Austell area. The site supports growth in low-carbon industries, environmental technologies, and advanced manufacturing. To further enhance the park’s sustainability credentials, Igen was appointed to design and install a bespoke 24 kWp solar PV system tailored to the unique requirements of the development.
The Challenge
As a centre for innovation and low-carbon enterprise, Carluddon Technology Park required a solar solution that aligned with its environmental objectives while integrating seamlessly with the architectural design of the buildings. The project involved installing a system on a standing seam roof, requiring a mounting approach that delivered secure attachment without compromising the roof structure or aesthetics. The system needed to support the park’s mission of promoting green technologies and contribute directly to reducing operational carbon emissions for businesses within the development.
The Solution
Igen engineered a custom-designed 24 kWp solar PV system optimised specifically for the standing seam roof profile. Using a non-penetrative mounting system, the panels were securely fixed without disturbing the roof integrity, ensuring a clean installation that met all structural and aesthetic requirements. The bespoke array was designed to maximise solar gain and provide reliable on-site renewable energy generation, helping the park maintain its focus on sustainability while supporting the energy needs of incoming businesses.
The Results
-
Total system capacity: 24 kWp
-
Installation type: Bespoke design on standing seam roof
-
Mounting method: Non-penetrative system tailored to roof profile
-
Outcome: On-site renewable generation supporting the park’s low-carbon mission
The installation provides a consistent source of clean electricity, reducing energy costs for occupiers and reinforcing the site’s commitment to environmental leadership.
The Impact
The solar PV system strengthens Carluddon Technology Park’s position as a hub for sustainable business growth. By integrating renewable energy into the development’s core infrastructure, the project supports long-term carbon reduction and enhances the site’s appeal to organisations operating in low-carbon and advanced manufacturing sectors. Igen’s bespoke solution demonstrates how tailored solar engineering can help new developments achieve their sustainability objectives while supporting wider economic regeneration.
