Chatham Waters Apartments

Igen partnered with Walsh IBS to design and install a 40 kWp commercial solar PV system for the X1 Chatham Waters apartments, a luxury mixed-use development in Kent. The project forms part of Peel’s ongoing £650 million Chatham Waters masterplan, which combines residential, retail, leisure, and office spaces along a prime waterfront location.  The installation highlights Igen’s expertise in delivering innovative solar solutions for high-quality urban developments, providing on-site renewable energy while supporting sustainability objectives.

The Challenge

X1 Chatham Waters required a solar solution that could integrate seamlessly with a mixed-use residential and commercial roofscape, delivering reliable renewable energy without compromising aesthetics or structural integrity.  The project also represented a first-of-its-kind European installation of the K2 S Dome mounting system, which required careful planning and execution to ensure optimal performance and compliance with local regulations.

The Solution

Igen installed a 40 kWp rooftop solar PV array designed to maximise energy generation for the development. By using the revolutionary K2 S Dome mounting system, Igen provided a lightweight, versatile solution that optimised panel orientation while preserving roof integrity and architectural aesthetics.  The system is projected to generate approximately 36,290 kWh of clean energy per year, avoiding an estimated 17,120 kg of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing directly to the environmental credentials of the Chatham Waters development.  The installation was carefully coordinated with Walsh IBS and other trades to ensure minimal disruption to the ongoing construction programme, maintaining Igen’s high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.
