Service & Maintenance
Monitoring, Protecting and Maintaining Your Investment
Solar is wonderfully reliable and will function for years without interference. However, to maximise gains from the Smart Export Guarantee and savings on your electricity bill it is vital to maintain the peak output.
The Igen service and maintenance contract is designed to achieve this goal, focusing on the following key areas of your system:
Drone Survey
The first part of our maintenance procedure will be a drone survey to inspect the panels for cleaning. Igen will asses the panels using a drone to see what action is required to maintain our clients system.
Panel Cleaning
The most common cause of system underperformance is the build-up of dirt and debris on solar panels. Although most panels use self-cleaning glass, this does not eliminate the need for regular maintenance. To ensure panels operate at full capacity, they should be cleaned annually or biannually.
As part of our annual service, Igen provides full panel cleaning using the advanced F1 solar panel cleaning robot, delivering a thorough, consistent clean and helping you maintain optimal system performance.
Inverter Servicing
It is expected that on average a customer will have to replace their inverter at least once during a ten year period. A full annual service of the inverter can prolong its life, cleaning of the fans and cooling vents is of most value as overheating is the biggest cause of failure. Igen include (manufacturer approved) inverter servicing in our annual service.
Electrical Testing
Damaged cables or water ingress will also reduce system performance and may lead to further equipment failure. The system can experience ground faults, causing the system to shut down intermittently and unless the system is continuously monitored this can be hard to detect without conducting an IR test (insulation resistance test). Causes can be wide ranging, from mechanical damage (rodents) to connector that has rusted or a seal that has broken. The Igen annual service includes full electrical testing by a qualified engineer.
