Project : Unilever Head Office – Port Sunlight

Client : Unilever

Contractor : BAM

M+E : IMTECH

Date : April 2017

iGen was appointed to install a solar PV system for Unilever’s new R&D facility at Port Sunlight.  The new 4 storey £24 million pound extension was completed in April 2017 and our works had to work closely with other trades to ensure a seamless installation to minimise disruption. Due to the nature of the site housekeeping, health and safety and workmanship were heavily scrutinised and needed to be of the very highest standard. We utilised a contract lift to bring materials to the roof and installed a ballast mounted aluminium A-frame system, manufactured by German engineering firm Schletter. A GSM enabled meter complete with sim card was installed so that meter readings can be automated, avoiding the need to read the meter every quarter and submit readings manually. We added controls to the inverter to maintain disconnection in the event of the site back up power from the on-site generator.
